I ride a 2013 Kawasaki KLR on the advice of my dad. He now complains because it is slower and requires a lot more maintenance than his 1200 GS Adventure. It has some modifications for travel such as panniers, knobby tires (Michelin T63s in the photo but I am running Heidenau K60s now), skid plate, crash bars, fuel and oil canisters, and center stand. After the Dempster trip I upgraded the suspension as loaded up the bike and I weigh 350 kg which is getting heavy for the stock suspension, I suppose I could lose some weight or bring less junk but upgrading the suspension is fairly easy and discipline is hard.
